"I first started indoorgroupcycling in February of this year, and as I hadn't exercised properly for several months I'd put on a lot of weight. At best I felt uncomfortable and at worst unhealthy. Definitely very unfit. So I chose indoorgroupcycling for several reasons to try and sort myself out.

Firstly it is convenient for me as I live nearby, and the wide choice of class times means I can fit it in easily around my work.

Secondly, in view of my state of fitness, I felt I needed a safe form of cardiovascular exercise that was led by a qualified instructor, could be tailored to my needs, and had all the motivating qualities that come with an instructor and a group exercising together.

Thirdly, I thought it would be easy to get the hang of with minimal risk of embarrassment. Very important for the unfit self-conscious individual. And all this packed into 45 minutes!

As it turns out, indoorgroupcycling is all of these, and now nearly 6 months later I'm still going and enjoying it more and more the fitter I get, and there is no doubt I've got a hell of a lot fitter.

I've lost over 2 stones in weight and 4 inches from my waist. I've started training for a half marathon, and I'm up to being able to do 11 miles of running without too much trouble. My clothes fit me properly once more, and I generally feel so much better in myself. Quite simply, since starting indoorgroupcycling my life has improved no end.

The great thing is, that as it suits me so much I really feel that I've found a great form of exercise for life"

Cheers Paul.

Thanks to you, Sarah and Elaine for all of the above.

See you soon,
Vernon.

The story so far......

" I find Wednesdays sooo stressful!. I'm usually working in Launceston where I finish about 4.15pm. It's then a quick drive back to Newton Abbot, unload my kit and works vehicle, then rush home to change and back down to the Courtenay Center by 6pm.

Why the panic. So I'm not late for one of "Paul's pulsating Pedal" workouts, or indoorgroupcycling for those who wonder what that might be.

Why the rush. Well I wouldn't miss it for the world, and woe betide anything that tries to stop me from going. Is it that good - YES I've been a sportsman all my life (I'm only just over 21yrs! ! ! - okay so I had a hard paper round) enjoying relative success at swimming, running, rugby, water polo etc. I've done the pool training, I've run the hills and lap sessions on the track, but I've never enjoyed workouts as much as Paul's indoorgroupcycling. Is it the music?, the variety of workouts? or just being part of the group? I don't know the answer, except I move heaven and earth to try and make sure I don't miss my session.

The benefits. Well I've been doing triathlons for a long time, always the nearly man. Good at the swim, okay at the run but useless on the bike, despite the mileage I did. Now after 3 years with Paul, I have gained the following success.

3rd in the world Police games held in Barcelona a couple of years ago, followed that up in qualifying for the Great Britain team doing the world Triathlon championships in Hawaii last year, coming 45 out of 87 competitors in my age group. I must add that this was all age related. The indoorgroupcycling has transformed my competitiveness on the bike stage and it's now full steam ahead as I train for the Police World Games in Australia next March (2007). So watch this space.

The final thing, I also find the session, for all it's positive qualities, is good for getting rid of stress ! ! !

"Having giving up previous exercise classes due to boredom, I was looking for something different and had noticed the Courtney center advertising 'Spinning' (now Indoor Group Cycling). When I eventually rang I spoke to Paul who was very enthusiastic about his classes and welcomed new clients along, I was offered a class a few days later.

I'm into my fifth year and still having great fun, you finish the class on such a high,.make new friends, and its keeping you fit as well !

The instructors are brilliant, sharing their expertise and knowledge with the group, teaching us to become fitter and healthier, its such a boost to your self esteem. Personally for me I am amazed how Indoor Group Cycling has improved my Asthma, in fact I don't even think of myself being Asthmatic, I can involve myself in a lot more activities now.

We often visit Centre Parcs and I always book a class when I'm there, I've even attended classes in Miami, something I wouldn't of thought about doing a few years ago, but I have the confidence knowing I've been taught well, and I know I can do it well, wherever!..."

Thanks Paul for all your help

"Hi,

24 Years ago after having my kids I made a big decision to get fit.

I wanted to find something and stick to it. I tried it all, the gym, aerobics, aqua aerobics, calenetics, badminton, jogging, cycling and even (rather ashamed to admit it) line dancing!

I also spent many hours on my own in the lounge joining in with Mr. motivator, or aerobics oz style on the telly.

I always did exercise but kept changing from one to the other. That was at least until I discovered indoorgroupcycling nearly 7 years ago. My twice a week sessions have made a big difference to my life. It makes me feel good about myself and gives me a sense of achievement. I can honestly say I enjoy going and even miss it when I don't go.

The friendly classes, friendly instructors and good music make it more enjoyable.

My fitness levels have greatly improved allowing me to take part in fun runs, 25 mile bike rides and the race for life (running) etc, etc.....

I have so much to be thankful for. Go on stick at it!

"I've been indoorgroupcycling for 7 months and the change in my level of fitness is amazing. It works so quickly, after 2 weeks I noticed a great improvement not only in my fitness level, but my figure has changed shape, tighter bum, much flatter stomach and firmer thighs. With some types of exercise I used to feel intimidated, but indoorgroupcycling is all upto you. When I finish my class, I feel a great sense of achievement. It's also very addictive. Just try it for a month and you'll see what I mean"

Lesley

"I began indoorgroupcycling last November in the hope of losing a few pounds before the traditional Christmas 'food fest'.

Imagine my surprise when I didn't shift the odd pound I was aiming for. Instead, I lost about half a stone and toned up in the process. I felt lighter, fitter and appreciated being able to exercise at my own rate, whilst being encouraged to push myself to achieve just that bit more each time until I was cycling harder and faster - with great results.

After a stressful day, indoorgroupcycling is a great way to wind down, knowing that you are getting fitter and healthier in the process. Since beginning indoorgroupcycling I have successfully completed the Race for Life and even had the courage to enter the Staff Race at work!"

"It must be about 6yrs ago that I started indoorgroupcycling. I had retired about 6mths earlier. I worried that I would put on weight so I started looking at different forms of exercise and heard about indoorgroupcycling. I received a friendly welcome, and everything about the bikes was explained to me, especially that to start with I was to go at my own pace. I have to admit I found it hard - but the buzz afterwards was amazing. I liked it so much I asked Paul if he would get me a second hand spinning bike, which he did and it is great - even my husband goes on it. I try to work at home as hard as I do in class. I must say I have never looked back, I love it. I've lost about 2st - I feel really well and as a bonus I've made new friends. The best bit is Paul has included me on the new brochure - yippee fame at last!!!

"I started indoorgroupcycling about 3 years ago and the benefits have been tremendous. I attend at least twice a week and have discovered an energy that I never knew I had! OK, I'll never run a marathon or anything, but indoorgroupcycling has allowed me to take part in other exercise, which I previously would have struggled with.

I have a long history of 'bad knees' which I won't bore you with now, but purely as a result of spinning, they have strengthened massively and I can now do circuits and keep up with my class of children when I send them on a cross country run (alright, four laps of the school field!).

I have met lots of great people who help keep me motivated. They provide lots of humorous banter, which not just encourages me to turn up on a dark, windy night to find out the end to a story, but takes my mind away from my day job and reminds me who I am as a person not just a professional.

I can't recommend indoorgroupcycling highly enough to anyone.physical fitness, camaraderie and fun. Who could want any more"
